How to make Skype work in Trillian

1. Download and install Trillian 5.5 Build 19:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/zgo1misonrcz966/Trillian_5.5_Build_19.exe
After installation, do not launch it!

2. Download and install Skype patch:

You can leave this version, updating is optional.

3. Download and install Trillian 5.6 Build 4:

    2. You SAY it works, but it did not work for me.
I had Trillion v5.6.05 installed when I realised there was no skype option. I uninstalled that version of Trillion and followed the instructions above exactly, but still don't have an option to add a skype account. What have I done wrong?

    3. Most likely, you didn't remove the previous version properly, try checking out Program Files and Appdata/Local and Appdata/Roaming folders after uninstalling for leftover files and folders. Maybe restart the computer, too.
If you now check the version of your installed Trillian, it should say v5.6 build 5, not 5.5 build 19.
Installing 5.6 build 4 at once won't work either, the order of steps is there for a reason.

  2. Szia!

  6. Can't make this work no matter what I do. Followed the instructions exactly uninstalled the other version ran a registry cleaner afterward restarted the comp... tried this... eight or nine times now. Nothing works. Oh well I guess I'll have to see if there's another program that lets me do FB and skype together....

    1. Are you even missing the option to add Skype? I mean it isn't even in the list?

  8. Figured it out! Go to plugins and click the box next to skype to activate and make it available in the accounts tab!

  11. Thank you very much, this worked for me too. One question, will upgrading to the the latest version of skype disable this fix in any way?

    1. No, as far as I know it won't, since Trillian uses its own skypekit.

    2. Dont we have to rename the file to skypekit.exe?

    3. No, you just have to follow the steps in the post, nothing else.

  12. March 13th, seems to be working! It had some issues on startup (internal code 5) but after a while it did manage to establish a connection.

    1. Yes, I am aware of the problem, but it doesn't matter anyways, since very soon, P2P versions of Skype will be stopped permanently and only the official version will work with the cloud-chat feature. So I'll delete this post in a coupe days.
